Message from our principal:

Hello Landels Families!

We are excited and ready here at Landels to start our new 2020-2021 school year!  We missed seeing your faces and learning about our community members.  Although the year is going to look and feel different, we have been busy planning and learning so we can support the academic and social-emotional learning of our students. We look forward to partnering with you to support your child so he or she can have a successful school year.

Next week, we will be providing professional development to our teachers, and we are planning to distribute supplies and materials by the end of the week. The distribution date will be posted by the end of this week.

With all that is going on in the world, I know that many of you are anxious about the upcoming school year. Please know that MVWSD has been working hard during the summer to ensure that our schools are safe and ready to provide your students with a high-quality, equitable learning experience. If you have any questions, feel free to contact us, or join me at my first principal’s coffee next on Monday, August 10th, at 4:00 p.m.  I will be disseminating some important information and will be able to answer or find answers to your questions.  For our first month of school, we will be having a principal’s coffee once a week

School Supplies

  1. During the first weeks of school, our school sites will prepare and distribute a district-standard general school supply kit to every student. The kit will include the following items (see below).
  2. Other supplies that will be distributed to students are:
    1. Chromebooks (if needed)
    2. Instructional materials, such as Eureka Math workbooks (varies by grade level)
    3. Other materials to be determined, such as art supplies
  1. School sites will distribute these supply kits to parents. It is likely that not all supply shipments will come in at the same time. Therefore, parents may be asked to pick up supplies at several distribution dates, in order to ensure students have items soon after delivery. Thanks in advance for your patience with multiple dates.
  2. School sites will communicate distribution plans, dates and health and safety expectations during pick up.
  3. If parents have purchased items from an earlier published supply list, we appreciate and accept donations of these materials. School sites will determine collection dates and locations.

Free COVID testing at El Camino Healthcare

El Camino Healthcare District is offering free COVID-19 testing in Mountain View for anyone who lives, works, or goes to school in the healthcare district. You do not need to have insurance to get tested or provide proof of residency.

Note that this is NOT the antibody test. This is a test that tells you whether or not you are positive for COVID-19 on the day of the test. Tests are required to be scheduled in advance and are available Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please call 650-940-7022 to schedule your free test. For more information on testing and locations, go to elcaminohealth.org/covid19testing.

Grab and Go Meals at Landels

Our Food Service Department will provide grab and go meals at all sites.  Free and reduced price lunch applications available.  Starting August 17th, paid and free and reduced price meals (grab and go during MVWSD Distance Learning) will be available at all school sites for students.

Free or reduced price meal benefit status from last year can be used to pay for lunches until Sept. 30. We can assist new applicants in applying for free or reduced price meal benefits through the National Lunch Program and can process applications quickly. Applications are at http://www.ezmealapp.com.  Deadline is Sept. 21st.

Full price meals will be available for students who have paid in advance online at https://www.ezschoolpay.com or have sent a check (including child’s school, child’s name, grade, teacher) to Food Service, Crittenden Middle School, 1701 Rock St., Mountain View, CA 94043. Please call https://www.mvwsd.org/nutrition at (650) 903-6965 if you have any questions.

Childcare Registration is Open

During the time of COVID-19 and Distance Learning, MVWSD has partnered with providers Right at School, YMCA and Newton to provide on-campus, fee-based childcare with prioritization for the children of full-time essential workers. MVWSD students in grades TK-5 may enroll.

Please note that these are District partners, not MVWSD programs. You may contact the providers with specific questions about their programs and their health and safety protocols. Childcare subsidies may be available for parents through the state of California. Please ask Right at School, YMCA and Newton at time of registration.

Registration for these programs is open the week of August 3, 2020. For registration information, please click on https://www.mvwsd.org/childcare.
