Landels News
Dear Landels Families,
We had over 90 students participate in the Winter Reading Challenge! Thank you for encouraging your child to read every day.
Park Restroom
We are in the final stages of construction for our new park restroom. Please know that the restrooms are on campus grounds and therefore will be closed to the public (as well as students) during the school day. The park restrooms will only be open once the school day ends.
Parking Lot Safety
We are noticing more cars driving through the bus lane in order to drop off or pick up students. I understand that parents may be in a hurry, but the bus lane is meant for buses only. Please make sure you are following our parking lot rules and following the flow of traffic.
Gates Locked at 8:15am
We have a supervisor in place at the Mercy St. entrance until 8:20am. However, if your child will be late past 8:20am, they need to enter the school through the main entrance on Dana St. as otherwise they will not be able to enter the gates from the back of the school - all gates lock automatically at 8:15am.
Open Enrollment
Open enrollment for ALL students for the 2025-26 school year is from January 21 to February 7. You can find more details in the district news below. Please remember that both new and returning students need to register for next school year.
LA fires help, wildfire smoke procedures
Our hearts go out to all of the families, first responders and schools who are profoundly impacted by the devastating fires in Los Angeles. It’s hard to know how to help when there is so much need, but here is a list of ways our families could contribute. Our children also may be affected by the devastation they hear about in LA. Here are tips for parents from the National Child Traumatic Stress Network about talking to children when scary things happen.
If the smoke does drift into our area, MVWSD will enact its plans to keep students and staff safe. Please see https://www.mvwsd.org/airquality for how we track air quality, what instrument we use and why, and what happens when the air is bad.
Thank you!
Pieter Dolmans
