Landels News
Dear Landels Families,
Thank you for participating in your child’s parent-teacher (student) conference! I hope the information was helpful and led to meaningful conversations at home. To support learning in my own home with my Kinder and TK children, I read to them (~20 minutes daily) and also make time to play, dance and sing (without access to my phone). If you didn’t get a chance to schedule your child’s conference, it’s not too late. Reach out to your child’s teacher to find a time that works for both you and the teacher. Thank you for your continued support!
Earthquake Drill
We had a very successful earthquake drill. The drill lasted about an hour and went very smoothly. It was a great learning experience for all and students did an amazing job at being safe and responsible!
Safety Month continues! We have supplies for emergencies at school. Do you have them at home?
Now is the time to prepare your home disaster supply kit. An earthquake could mean being without food, water or electricity for hours or days. A disaster supplies kit is a collection of basic items, including your own food, water, and other supplies, to last for several days that you’ll need in the event of an emergency. This is the week for your family to create or update your home kit. Here’s what should be in it.
Thank you and see you at the Walkathon this Friday!

UNITY DAY 10/22
Unity Day, started by PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center in October 2011, is the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month. This is a day when we can come together to send a visible message of building commUNITY through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. The call to action is simple: wear and share the color orange. This vibrant statement becomes a conversation starter, showing support for students who have been bullied and for bullying prevention.
College Week at Landels!
Next week (October 27–31), we’ll celebrate College Week! Students will get a chance to complete a College Bingo and learn about their teachers’ college journeys. We’ll also hear from some of our parents as they share their paths from high school to college and into their current careers.
Take some time to talk with your child about your own learning experiences.
It's never too early to start talking about college!
Winter Clothes Donations
It's finally time to get the warm clothes out of the closet! If you find items that are too small for your kids, or you just don't want them anymore, please bring them to the Landels office and we will find them a good home. Baby and adult clothes are also needed.
Clean and gently used clothes only, please. Nothing with stains or permanent damage. We will donate these items to families in need in our community. We will be collecting donations until Friday, November 7, 2025. Thank you!
Check the Lost & Found
Our Lost & Found rack by room 6 is overflowing with jackets, water bottles, lunch boxes, and more! If your child is missing something, please stop by and take a look. We will donate all clothing that is left behind by 10.31.25.

Drafts available: Single Plans for Student Achievement
Each year, our schools create Single Plans for Student Achievement (SPSAs or “site plans”) that guide the work for the coming year. These plans help us prioritize programs and strategies that will best serve our students. In the fall, elected parent representatives from School Site Councils and English Language Advisory Committees work with principals and school staff members to create a draft that is reviewed and approved by the MVWSD Board of Trustees. Parents and staff members may give feedback through Nov. 4 to their principal and elected parent representatives to SSC and ELAC. You may review the draft plans here.
