Landels News
Dear Landels Families,
This month, our school is focusing on Gratitude—choosing to appreciate the people and things in our lives. In case you missed it, here’s my message to the school about gratitude. At dinner or before bed, take a moment to share what you and your child are grateful for—or something they appreciated about the school day.
Math Festival - Volunteers Needed
We are still looking for 7 volunteers to run a station during our math festival on November 12th. Training starts at 4pm and the event goes until 6:30pm. Please contact Ms. Bea ([email protected]) or [email protected] if you are interested.
Attendance Reminders
The holidays are fast approaching so it’s a good time to remind everyone of the importance of attendance. I understand wanting to extend your vacation or take extra time off but remember that showing up to school every day is critical for students’ well-being, engagement and learning success.
Here are some helpful reminders:
· Students do not need to stay home for chronic conditions such as asthma and allergies. Families should work with their doctor to find ways to manage these chronic conditions to minimize the impact on life functions such as school.
· If a student is not wanting to attend due to social conflicts or anxiety, please bring them to the office so we can support them and help them navigate their concerns instead of keeping them home.
· While every effort should be made to make doctor appointments on school breaks or after school, students do not need to miss an entire school day for appointments. They can either come before the appointment and get signed out early, or come back after the appointment.
· If a child or parent wakes up late, still bring the child to school. Better late than never!
Attendance Awards
5th grade had the highest overall attendance in the month of October with 97.12%. They will receive a dance party with DJ Dolmans. The following attendance rockstars were given an In-and-Out gift card for their perfect attendance in October:
Seina S.
Corbin U.
Elizabeth H.
Sonzal P.
Safa S.
Sejal C.
Luozefei C.
Thank you for doing your part to get students here and on time every day. It matters and it makes a huge difference!

Winter Clothes Donations
It's finally time to get the warm clothes out of the closet! If you find items that are too small for your kids, or you just don't want them anymore, please bring them to the Landels office and we will find them a good home. Baby and adult clothes are also needed.
Clean and gently used clothes only, please. Nothing with stains or permanent damage. We will donate these items to families in need in our community. We will be collecting donations until Friday, November 14, 2025. Thank you!

Supporting Students Through Uncertainty: Free Meals and Food Assistance Available for MVWSD Families
When children are properly nourished, they can concentrate better, retain information and have the energy they need for a full day of school. The ongoing federal shutdown is threatening to delay CalFresh program benefits to over 5 million Californians who rely on CalFresh (the state’s SNAP program) benefits for food assistance.
MVWSD wants to help. Free school meals are available every morning and lunchtime at every school. Please encourage your students to take advantage of these meals. For meal menus, click here.
Any families who are experiencing food insecurity can reach out to their school’s SCEF for confidential guidance and help. Please contact Ms. Bea ([email protected]).
