Principal’s Message:

Dear Landels Families,

In the principal’s coffee on Monday, we discussed the new COVID updates, summer school and the CAASPP end-of-year assessment for 3rd-5th graders. The presentation can be found here. It is very important that all 3rd-5th graders are present during testing. Not only is this an opportunity for students to demonstrate their understanding of grade-level content, the data also helps us to improve our instruction and plan for intervention. Please avoid scheduling appointments during the testing block. The dates for testing are as follows:

CAASPP Testing (8:30am-10am)

April 26th-April 28th - ELA Testing for 3rd-5th

May 3rd-May 5th - Math Testing for 3rd-5th

May 10th-May 11th - Science Testing for 5th Only

iReady Testing

May 16th and May 18th - iReady Testing for all Grades

Food Distribution in MUR

Starting Monday, April 4th, we will be distributing food in the MUR instead of outside. Here’s a look at the procedures for how students will pick up their snack and lunch. We practiced on Wednesday this week and all went smoothly. We’re excited to give students more eating choices!

Student Drop off and Pick Up

For student security and safety, families will continue to drop off and pick up at the gates. This allows staff to verify that students have been picked up by an authorized adult. Campus will reopen for families after all students have been dismissed - approximately 15 minutes after last dismissal. It is still expected that all students are picked up or walk/bike home immediately after school. Students who do return to campus must be closely supervised by an adult. After school programs (BTB, YMCA and Right at School) have priority of campus space. That means if BTB, YMCA or RAS are using the playground or the tables, other students and families must leave that space.

Thank you for your cooperation and support!

Pieter Dolmans

Please send your child to school with a water bottle daily.  Because of our COVID precautions, we do not allow students to drink directly from our water fountains. COVID update: Masking, other protocols changing on March 28

MVWSD will further loosen restrictions due to changing state and county guidance. Please see the attached flyer for the highlights of changes beginning March 28. Both outdoor and indoor masking is strongly recommended (no longer required) for students and staff. Exceptions: Masks are required on buses for all, indoors for volunteers and preschoolers, and unvaccinated persons (including adults without a booster) must wear a mask for 10 days after exposure to a positive case. Masks are required indoors for sports and performing arts spectators, regardless of vaccination status.

Speaking respectfully about mask choices

As mask mandates change at MVWSD, it is important to respect the decisions of individuals and families as they choose to mask or not mask at school. Staff members will support students with respectful conversations on campus. We encourage you to talk with your children about your family’s choices, and about communicating empathy and understanding for others’ choices. For tips on how students can respectfully speak up and speak out, see this helpful infographic. We know our students will be upstanders and take care of each other!

COVID vaccinations at Graham: April 5

El Camino Health will host a public COVID vaccination clinic at the Graham Middle School Multi Use Room on April 5 from 3:30-7:30 p.m. The clinic will offer shots (primary series and boosters) free to all students ages 5 and older and their family members. For more information and consent form, see http://mvw.sd/vax
