Principal’s Message:

Dear Landels Families,

We are continuing to reinforce and recognize positive behavior on campus while having conversations with students around inappropriate behavior. Last week, we had an incident in the student restrooms - the soap dispenser was ripped from the wall, water was splashed all over the mirrors and floors, and toilet paper was thrown on the floor. In the Monday morning meeting, we discussed the people that are impacted by this behavior and how they might feel after seeing the restroom in that state. We want all students to take pride in their school by following the Landels Ways: Be Safe, Be Responsible, Be Respectful.

Also in the morning meeting, we encouraged students to speak up if they see something inappropriate. I want to recognize the many students who have since come to tell me that something was wrong - keep it up!

Sleep

Many adults have difficulty with sleep - both getting to sleep and staying asleep. It’s important that we set children up for sleep success by creating and enforcing bedtime routines. When students show up tired, they are less likely to pay attention and more likely to show signs of sleep deprivation (slowed thinking, reduced attention span, worsened memory, lack of energy, mood changes, etc.). The Sleep Foundation has some tips for creating a consistent 30-minute bedtime routine. Most experts agree that technology is detrimental to a child’s sleep and recommend turning off/taking away electronics at least 1 hour before bedtime.

Lifetouch Pictures

Last Reminder: Lifetouch will be on campus to take pictures on 9/28. Students can choose to take their picture with their mask on or off. Photographers will be more than 6ft away from students and will be wearing a mask. If you are interested in ordering pictures, please bring the order form (that was sent home) on picture day or you can order online at mylifetouch.com and enter the picture day ID: EVTJPV9VR

Thank you!

Gift Card Donation

As you may know, there are several families in our district that need help to meet some basic needs.  The district is providing meals every day but some families need more support to provide food, clothes and shoes for their kids.  There is a critical need for gift cards for these families.  If you are able, please consider donating a Safeway or Target gift card to families in our own district.  Thanks so much for your help!  Let’s show these families how strong and supportive our Landels community really is!

Please bring the gift cards to the office.  If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Bea, School and Community Engagement Facilitator – SCEF – at [email protected].
