Principal’s Message:

Dear Landels Families,

In our Monday Morning Meeting, we took some time to learn about Hispanic Heritage Month, which started on 9/15 and ends on 10/15. We value diversity at Landels and appreciate the people, culture and contributions of Hispanic, Latinx, Chicano and other Central and South American populations. During our Tool Time segment, we reflected on a situation that often occurs at recess - students running into each other and potentially getting hurt. We encourage all students to apologize when they may have hurt someone else (whether intentionally or not). We also talked about using the Garbage Can Tool to shrug off the little things so we can focus on getting back up and having fun.

General Safety Reminders

We are still having to remind students of the importance of wearing their masks and maintaining social distancing. Parents have also noticed that students often ride on the sidewalk instead of the bike path when traveling to and from school. This may lead to collisions with pedestrians. Please continue to discuss proper COVID and bike safety with your child.

COVID updates: Testing

Beginning Monday, October 4th, Landels will be piloting the pooled testing with Concentric. One class from each grade will be chosen at random to participate in the pilot. The district anticipates that we can start full-scale testing on campuses by mid-October. In order to prepare, please review the following testing procedures with your child: Click here for a video showing what student testing will look like.

Virtual Fall Book Fair

Hello Landels Lions!

The Fall Book Fair is coming, from Saturday, October 2nd through October 15th. To keep our kids and staff safe, the book fair will once again be entirely online but we know you will still be able to find a few new wonderful books! For every book you buy our school earns Scholastic dollars that our teachers and library can use to purchase new books for our school!  All purchases of $25 that are entirely books include free shipping!

Here's how to participate:

* Parents, in advance of or during the book fair, go to https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bookfairs/cptoolkit/homepage.do?method=homepage&url=landelsfall2021 and create an eWallet for your child. This is an account you can fund to allow your child the chance to find their new favorite books on their own!

* Starting October 2nd, you and your child can browse the online store together.

* Share our Book Fair link to encourage friends and relatives to shop for gifts for upcoming birthdays or the holiday season. You'll get some gift purchasing out of the way, and you'll be helping the school at the same time!

We've set a modest goal of selling 250 books between Oct 2 and Oct 15 – please help us smash this goal!

Once again, visit the Landels Book Fair website starting October 2nd and get shopping!
