Hello Landels Families!

By the end of today, most of our students will have completed both the math and reading iReady diagnostic assessments.  We have been analyzing the data thus far and our students are showing great growth.  We are so proud of our students as they are utilizing their courage tool to try their best to show what they know.  You will be receiving data reports mid-January with results for your child(ren).  At that point, please feel free to ask questions or express concerns.  We will be setting up meetings with parents and students to discuss strategies for those who did not show relative growth.

Please have students at school on time. It is essential that they begin their day with their peers. Instruction starts from the moment the bell rings in the morning.  Therefore, your child will have a smoother start to their day when they arrive on time and receive all directions and review the plan for the day.  If you need assistance with an on-time arrival, please let us know so we can support you.

Middle School Electives Interest Survey coming the week of 12/16

As we enter the third year of the inclusive middle school schedule, our middle schools are currently working to provide quality elective offerings that are a great complement to our core academics. It's our goal to align electives with students’ interests and teachers’ credentials.

In order to gauge students’ interests, and inform the development of the elective catalog for the next school year, students in grades 5-7 will be asked to complete a survey in class the week of December 16th.  This survey will list possible electives for 2020-21 and ask students to indicate the top three electives they may be interested in taking.  The purpose of this survey only is to understand student interests. Students will not be committed to taking the electives they express interest in. Incoming and current middle school students will not formally request electives until the spring of 2020.

For more information on the process, and to view last year’s electives catalogs, please click on
www.mvwsd.org/MSelectives.

Gift Card Donations

Dear Landels families,

The holidays are almost here, a time to spend with family and friends, to eat a nice dinner or two, to celebrate in different ways.  But for some of our families in need, this is a difficult and stressful time. We are asking for donations of gift cards (Target, Safeway) to provide to some of our families. Please consider buying a gift card and dropping it off in the donation box in the Landels office. We really appreciate our wonderful and generous community! We’ll be collecting gift cards until Tuesday, December 17.
