Message from our principal:

Hello Landels Families!

This is the last week of the first trimester.  When I look back at the beginning of the first trimester, I realize how much we have learned and grown since then.  We definitely know more now than we did back then regarding how to use technology, how to create engagement, and how to build community.  Although we are still learning, we have done a great job thus far in a short amount of time.  We all make a great team and want to thank you for all your support during this time.

November 6 marks the end of the trimester. It is a minimum day and students will be dismissed at 11:35. You will be digitally receiving your child's report card on Friday, November 20th. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's grades, as always, please arrange to talk with your child’s team, which includes the teacher and me, so we can give you more details. We provide interpretation services when requested.

Mark your calendars for our second trimester Using Our 12 SEL Tools Night!  At our last Using Our Tools meeting, we discussed an overview of all twelve tools and how to use them.  This trimester, we will be discussing specific tools more in depth and discuss other ways to use our tools in different settings.  More information to come.

Let’s help our students increase their math fluency!

We have created a math padlet with examples of math karaoke that would like our students and families to create!  You can do it as a family, as a student or group of students.  I can still remember the quadratic equation because my high school math teacher had us put it to a tune.  Take a look at our padlet and add your own!  : )

A message from our Landels 5th grade activities and safety team

Hi Landels Lions! The Landels Pride Team would like to kick off the Edith Landels Elementary Family Fundraising starting on Wednesday, November 4th. This fundraising event will help our Landels families who have been hit hard by financial troubles due to the Corona Virus. There are going to be two ways to donate. One is donating on our Pride Team Website. The items purchased will be shipped to the school.

Another way to donate is by bringing your donations to the Landels front office during our office hours. The goal that has been set is $1000. Pride Team members are volunteering to be hit with pies in the face if we meet that goal! If we meet the goal of $1500, Mrs. Startz and Mrs. Bassett will take a pie to the face!

Please visit our Pride Team Website for more information and donate soon! Thank you for your support!

MVLA: “How to Raise a Boy:  The Power of Connection to Build Good Men”

The MVLA Speakers Series presents: Michael Reichert on “How to Raise a Boy:  The Power of Connection to Build Good Men” on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2020 - 7:00 - 9:00pm | Live Online

Michael Reichert, Ph.D., is a clinical and research psychologist who has worked with children in a variety of contexts for over 30 years. Challenging conventional ideas of how boys learn and grow, Dr. Reichert’s research underscores the importance of a relational approach in raising and educating boys to nurture their strength and resilience.  Offering a timely consideration of how boyhood has undergone an historic shift, Dr. Reichert will focus on helping parents, teachers, and boys themselves adapt, especially as we face today’s unprecedented challenges.

Dr. Reichert will also comment on our current situation with distance learning and its impact on boys.

Audience:  Parents, teachers, coaches, and mentors of young boys and teens
