Message from our principal:

Hello Landels Families!

Thanksgiving recess is upon us and this short week gives us all a moment to pause and reflect on all that we are thankful for in our lives.  Now more than ever, it is so important to lean on each other, family members near and far, friends, teachers and staff, community members and neighbors.  We have endured eight months of discovering our new normal.  We have become accustomed to expecting the unexpected and to remain nimble.  Our nerves as individuals and as communities have been pushed to the limits, yet we still stay grounded in finding community amongst us.  Now more than ever, it is so important to see within each of us, our good intentions and allow for our humanity to shine through.  I hope you have a safe break and connect with your loved ones and check in on your community members.

Heidi Galassi

Distance Learning Toolkit: Increasing Focus Through a Sensory Lens

Thursday December 3, 7-8:30 PM

LAMV PTA Council and SELPA 1 CAC present this talk with Lisa Kaplan Shanaan, MS OTR/L TMHP

How do you stay engaged? How do you calm down when excited, or pep up when you are zoned out? You may know your own body and the tricks that work for you, but children are still working this out. It is especially difficult to learn self-regulation when involved in distance learning on screens for hours a day. Come learn from Lisa Kaplan Shaanan, an occupational therapist and trainer, who has been working with children birth thru 18 years old for more than 30 years. She will recommend tools and techniques useful to help all children discover their best ways to self-regulate and really learn and stay engaged during the Zoom school day.
