Landels News

Hello Landels Families,

This week, Landels, along with over 39,000 other schools, is participating in the Kindness Challenge. All students received a checklist with random acts of kindness. Students can turn in their completed checklist at the end of the week for a small prize. The bigger reward comes from spreading joy and gratitude through kind acts. Landels is united in kindness!

Approximately 30% of all California students are chronically absent. One of our goals at Landels is to increase daily attendance and reduce chronic absenteeism. Chronic absenteeism has a lasting impact on a student’s academic, social and emotional development. We have lots of great things happening at Landels and many strategies to address student needs, including small group reading instruction, English language development, tutoring support, and strong, differentiated instruction with a focus on priority standards. But, students need to be present in order to take advantage of these services and resources. Thank you for prioritizing your child’s attendance!

Enrollment

Enrollment for next school year is open. Please remember that both new and returning students need to register for next school year. Click on the link to learn more and register your child. You can always email or call the front office if you need assistance with enrollment.

Thank you!

Pieter Dolmans

Dogs on Campus

Just a friendly reminder that dogs are not permitted on campus during drop-off, pick-up, or during the school day.  This is to ensure the safety and emotional well-being of our students and community.  Thank you for your understanding.

Better Together: January

“There are all kinds of courage," said Dumbledore, smiling. "It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends." - J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

Sometimes, being a good ally might mean standing up to our friends to protect someone else. In the month of January, MVWSD students will explore the essential question: How do I have a difficult conversation with someone? A thoughtful ally finds a way to express themselves respectfully and with an open mind. For more information about Better Together, visit mvwsd.org/BetterTogetherMVWSD.
