Landels News

Hello Landels Families,

This week, all students participated in the city’s Safe Routes to School program, where they gained valuable information about safely walking and rolling to school. All students also got to pick out a free book at the Book Fair thanks to the generous contributions of the Landels community and the PTA. Check in with your child about the book they received and take the opportunity to read with them.

Vice Principals

7 students got to see what it’s like to be a vice principal for a day as part of their reward for completing the summer reading challenge. They helped with our reclassification ceremony, conducted some classroom observations and gave our teachers feedback, and interviewed Principal Kobata, Bubb’s new principal. A big thank you to the 7 students for helping to run the school!  Abir S., Lola M., Claire P., Toma I., Ruby S., Maya H., Shreyas N.

Reclassification

Today we celebrated all our English Learners that reclassified as English Proficient. I am so proud of these students for all the hard work and effort they put into developing their English language. Please join me in recognizing the following students:

Kina W., Mila M., Chisako T., IIya K., Rohan P., Bariyan D., Natalia A., Sahily O., Ella S., Alexia J.

Thank you!

Pieter

Better Together: September

This month, #BetterTogether explores identity and celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month, which are both essential components of fostering inclusive and enriching schools in MVWSD. Recognizing and respecting the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and identities of students not only promotes a sense of belonging and allyship but also encourages a more comprehensive and meaningful learning experience for all. Hispanic Heritage Month, in particular, provides an opportunity to appreciate the rich tapestry of Hispanic/Latino cultures, their contributions to society, and the stories of Hispanic/Latino students within our own community. Celebrate with us this month! We are #BetterTogetherMVWSD. For more information about Better Together, visit mvwsd.org/BetterTogetherMVWSD.

Volunteer with MVEF!
MVEF needs 1-3 additional volunteers at each school in MVWSD. MVEF school representatives help the families at their school understand what MVEF is and why it exists so that they are inspired to donate and spread the word about the impact of MVEF funding. MVEF also needs volunteers to help with planning our annual Gala and other community events. To learn more, visit: https://www.mvef.org/volunteer
