Landels News

Hello Landels Families,

This month’s #BetterTogether topic is speak up. Our students are currently learning about influential Black leaders, many of whom had to speak up for basic rights and freedoms. Students are also encouraged to speak up for what is right and fair - their voices have tremendous power. Here are some ideas on how you can help your child develop their assertive voice

Book Mobile

The Book Mobile will be back at Landels on Thursday, February 15th from 11:45-1:00pm (see calendar). In order to reach more students, we will have the Book Mobile on campus by the lunch tables. Students can check out books from the Book Mobile with their library card. If your child plans to visit the Book Mobile after school on Thursday AND you are picking them up by car, please plan ahead and make sure to park your car so as not to hold up the pick-up line.

Valentine’s Day

If your child would like to participate in Valentine’s Day on Wednesday 2/14, we ask that they include everyone in their class AND that they do not bring food to share.

Better Together: February

February marks a very important time in our district where we pause to honor and celebrate Black History Month, shining a spotlight on the rich contributions and achievements of African Americans in our community and throughout our shared history. It serves as a reminder to us all to acknowledge the struggles and triumphs that have shaped the Black experience in the US. This month #BetterTogether also encourages us to speak up about the importance of equality, justice, and the ongoing fight against systemic racism. The essential question for the month is: How do I speak up for myself and for others? Black History Month offers us an opportunity to recognize and appreciate the diversity that makes our community strong, and to use our voices to advocate for positive change for all. For more information about Better Together, visit mvwsd.org/BetterTogetherMVWSD.
