Landels News
Dear Landels Families,
This Friday marks the end of the first trimester! Friday, November 3rd is a minimum day for students (dismissal at 12:10). Report cards will be sent electronically on Friday, November 17th. Our parent-teacher conferences are scheduled for the week of December 5th, but you can always contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s progress.
In the last two principal’s coffee meetings, I shared both the iReady and CAASPP data from the 22-23 school year. Many of the actions we had taken that year have proved to be effective in increasing overall student achievement. We also saw greater gains in many historically marginalized groups, including Hispanic and Latino students and students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds. I am confident that our hyperfocus on our multi-tiered system of support (MTSS), the science of reading and small group intervention will continue to produce positive results.
You can review CAASPP data (grades 3-5) by typing in “Edith Landels” here. You can also review our site plan here.
Thank you for your continued support. You, our dedicated parent community, play an important role in our ability to meet the wide range of students’ needs.
Pieter Dolmans
Short-Term Independent Studies
If you are planning on scheduling family vacations, please make every effort to schedule around our instructional calendar. You can also find minimum days outside our regularly scheduled early release Thursdays for scheduling appointments for your scholar. If your plans include your child missing 3-14 days of school, please notify the front office to discuss a short-term independent studies contract to minimize the impact of missed school days.
Lost & Found
Is your child missing a sweater/jacket, lunch box or water bottle? Our lost and found cart is overflowing with many items. Please take a moment after school or on the weekend to check out the lost & found cart located beside Room 6. All items not claimed by Thursday, November 9 will be donated.
