Landels News

Dear Landels Families,

I look forward to seeing you all at the Open House tomorrow @ 6pm. During this time, you and your child will get a chance to celebrate the learning that has happened over the past year. Please remember that Open House is not a time for individual conferences with the teacher. If you have concerns or want to discuss your child’s individual progress, please work with your child’s teacher to set up a meeting to address these concerns. After you visit your child’s class, please make sure to visit the MUR to see the CSMA art show, which is made possible by MVEF.

No MVWSD+ Afterschool Programs on Thursday, March 21

Due to preparations for Elementary School Open House, there will be no MVWSD+ Afterschool Programs on Thursday, March 21. MVWSD+ families, thank you in advance for making other arrangements. This affects all Right At School programs, all Beyond the Bell programs, and the district-paid YMCA programs. Programs resume as normal on Friday, March 22. For more information, please contact [email protected] or call (650) 526-3500 x1061.

Also just a friendly reminder that there is no school for students on Monday, March 25. It is a Teacher Service Day (professional development for staff).

See you soon!

Pieter Dolmans

Chess Tournament

Please SAVE THE DATE for the 21st Annual MVWSD Interscholastic Chess Tournament on Sunday, April 21st. Students from all MVWSD schools are welcome to join and enjoy an afternoon of friendly competition and camaraderie!

Why join? Chess is fun and stimulating for minds of all ages. It's easy to learn but difficult to master. All that's required to enter is to know how the pieces move! Our pairing system matches opponents of similar experience. Playing chess develops concentration, imagination, coordination and leadership skills that are useful well beyond the board.

For the last 20 years, the Chess Tournament has been PTA funded and entirely run by parents.  This is the first time that it is being hosted at Landels. So please consider volunteering to make this a great day for our kids and continue the great tradition of chess in the district!  To sign up for volunteering, please contact [email protected].

REGISTER HERE. Any questions can be sent to Jonas Klittmark, tournament director, at [email protected].

Yearbook

This year, parent volunteers Alicia Romo and Katarina Ling are creating a school-wide yearbook! To our knowledge, this is the first time in at least the last decade that the yearbook has covered the entire school. Each softcover yearbook will be $22, which includes tax and shipping. Look out for the order link and more information coming soon! If you’d like to submit a photo to be considered for the yearbook, please send it to [email protected].
