Q. How do I register my child for Landels?
A. Please visit the Mountain View Whisman School District's
enrollment webpage for enrollment information.
Q. How will I know if my child is ready for kindergarten?
A. There are many articles online that can provide you with a general overview of readiness, such as this

Q. Is there a Kindergarten Info Night? How about a tour of the kinder classrooms?
A. The Mountain View Whisman School District schedules a district-wide Kindergarten Info Night in winter/spring. Landels also hosts its own Kinder Info Night around the same time. This may include the opportunity to tour a classroom and meet the kindergarten teachers. These events are intended for adults only.
Q. My child is not scheduled to receive his regular vaccines until after my in-person registration appointment at the district office. Do I really need to get them done before I go?
A. Yes, you will need to show paperwork certifying that you have completed all required immunization when you go to the district office, including a tuberculosis (PPD) test performed within 12 months of your appointment (not before "school entry").
Q. When will I find out which class my child is in?
A. Class assignments will can be viewed on PowerSchool (our student database) prior to the first day of school.
Q. Will new kinder families get to meet the teachers and other students before school starts?
A. Yes, we hold a Kindergarten Storytime prior to the start of school, which provides students with the opportunity to meet the Kinder teachers while parents meet the principal.
Q. How do I stay connected with the community?
A. Make sure to read the Landels Latest every week to stay informed - this is the best source of information on all things happening at Landels. In addition, you can sign up for Konstella, the communication tool used by the PTA. Your child's teacher will also send out updates to families via email.

Q. When will the calendar for the next school year become available?
A. The school board usually votes on the school calendar sometime in the spring.
Q. What does my child need to bring for the first day of school?
A. A backpack and a readiness to learn! If your child does not want to eat the snack provided by school, they should also pack their own snack. The first day of school is a minimum day and school lets out at 12:10pm.
Q: What about supplies?
A. Supply lists will be posted in the office window, coinciding with the class list posting. Donation of these supplies is voluntary, not required. Please
check our supply list page.
Q. What are the school hours?
Q. What do I need to do if my child will miss school?
A. To report an absence, you have two choices:
- Call 650.526.3520 x2 OR
- Email the school secretary, Ann Moorti, at [email protected].
Please provide the following information:
- Your child's name and room number
- Your name and relationship to the child
- Date of absence
- Reason for absence
Q. What if my child will be late for school?
A. Come to the office to get a tardy slip before going to class.
Q. How does lunch work?
A. Bring your own or get a lunch from school. See the
Food Service page for more information.
Q. What if my child forgets his/her lunch?
A. Landels is currently providing all students with free snack/lunch.
Q. Can I help out in the classroom?
A. Absolutely! Sign up in your child's classroom on Back-to-School Night, which usually takes place on a weeknight a week or two after school begins. You will need to follow all the procedures for volunteering (see
handbook).
Q. How can I help if I can't do so during the day?
A. There are several ways to help, even if you can't be there during school hours. Many teachers have jobs for parents at home. They will ask for volunteers for these jobs at Back-to-School night. If you don't see these jobs on a Sign-up Sheet at Back-to-School night, let your teacher know that you're willing to help from home and they will contact you when a need arises.
Q. What is Spirit Day?
A. Every Friday is Landels Spirit Day, on which we encourage all students to wear Landels gear to show their school spirit. You may purchase Landels gear
online and the item will be delivered to your child's class.
Q. What is the Monday Morning Meeting?
A. Every Monday morning the entire school meets on the blacktop. Students say the pledge, sing the Landels song, and recognize students that received a ROAR. Morning meetings are currently limited to students only.
